Shams: Thunder sign 24-year-old forward Darren Terry to a two-year minimum contract

According to a report by ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday, Darren Terry has agreed to join the Oklahoma City Thunder. The two sides are expected to reach a two-year veteran minimum contract, with the second year not guaranteed.

Terry, 24, is a 2.01-meter tall, 94-kilogram swingman who entered the NBA in 2022 as the 18th overall pick in the first round. He previously played for the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers, appearing in 218 regular season games, averaging 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 11.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 44.3% and a three-point percentage of 31.4%.

In the 2025/26 season, Terry made his first playoff appearance with the 76ers. He played 7 playoff games, averaging only 1.9 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 5.6 minutes per game.

Compared to his NBA career, Terry's performance in the G League has been more consistent. He previously played 20 games for the Windy City Bulls and Delaware Blue Jackets, averaging an impressive 19.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

In July of this year, Terry was waived by the 76ers, who desperately needed to make salary cap space to sign LeBron James. He then signed a training camp contract with the Golden State Warriors and joined the Santa Cruz Warriors after being waived.

For the Thunder, Terry's addition is expected to alleviate their shortage of wing players. The Thunder are currently plagued by injuries, with several key players, including Jalen Williams, Carson Wallace, and Chet Holmgren, all sidelined for extended periods due to injury.
