Senior NBA reporter Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Sunday that the New York Knicks plan to decline the fourth-year team option of small forward Pacôme Dadiet.
According to the report, the move is intended to create additional salary cap space for the team. Consequently, Dadiet will become an unrestricted free agent this coming June.
The team option for Dadiet is valued at $5.37 million. Despite this, both sides remain open to the possibility of continuing their partnership once he enters the free-agent market. However, his starting salary cannot exceed what he earned under his rookie contract.
Pacôme Dadiet, who is still only 21 years old, was selected with the 2nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Since joining the Knicks, however, the young French player has struggled to secure consistent playing time.
During his rookie NBA season, Dadiet appeared in 18 games, averaging 1.7 points per game while shooting 32% from the field. Last season, he played in 29 games, maintaining a 33% field-goal percentage.
This season, Dadiet has made one appearance, logging a single minute of play and recording one rebound for the New York Knicks.
