Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelof admitted that the team was inevitably disappointed to fail to secure all three points after a 1-1 draw at home against Fulham, believing they could have achieved a better result. Nicholas Jackson's eighth goal of the season gave Aston Villa a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, the team failed to maintain the same level of play after the break, and Fulham eventually equalized due to an own goal by Zian Suzuki.
Victor Lindelof admitted that Aston Villa failed to maintain their usual level of play in the early part of the second half, ultimately preventing the team from securing a victory at Villa Park. In a post-match interview with Villa TV, he said, "There's no doubt that failing to get three points in this game is very disappointing for all of us. Especially the team's performance in the second half, which clearly didn't meet expectations."
"In the first 20 minutes of the second half, the team didn't control the ball well enough, giving the opponent too much space to organize attacks and create threats, which ultimately led to their goal. In fact, we should have shown a more proactive attitude after the restart and strengthened our control of the game's tempo. Unfortunately, this period of poor performance ultimately cost us three points."
In reviewing Aston Villa's recent performances, Victor Lindelof stated that the team had been maintaining a good record. Therefore, failing to continue their winning streak and ultimately settling for a draw inevitably made the situation even more disappointing.
Viktor Lindelof added: "The team has been playing quite consistently over the past few weeks and has managed to win a few games, which is very important to us. I think that's one of the reasons why everyone feels particularly disappointed today. After all, we believed we could win this game, and the whole team went into the game with the goal of taking three points, but that's just how football sometimes is."
