Iñigo Perez believes the most important thing for the team right now is to improve the consistency of their home performance.

Villarreal manager Iñigo Pérez discussed the team's upcoming La Liga match in Round 11. In a pre-match interview, he shared details of the team's preparations for the game against Espanyol. This 2026/27 La Liga clash will be held at the Estadio de la Cerámica, where the two sides will face off.

Despite a tight recent schedule, Iñigo Perez remains confident in the team's preparations, stating that the entire team is ready to face the challenge. He said , " We understand how competitive this tournament is and are familiar with the upcoming schedule, so we've been able to plan ahead and prepare systematically. We've completed our preparations for tomorrow's match; now we just need to step onto the pitch and give it our all to win. We hope to take advantage of our home ground to secure the victory and continue our recent good form."

Speaking about the team's current overall situation, Inigo Pérez pointed out that further improving the consistency of their home performance is a crucial task for Villarreal at this stage. He stated , " We are at a very critical juncture. If we can temporarily set aside our focus on the schedule and concentrate on how to match our performance on the field with our final results, then the team can gradually build more confidence and maintain a more consistent performance. We have proven that we have the courage to face any opponent head-on, no matter who we play away from home."

"Therefore, the team's most important task at present is to further improve the consistency of their home performance. Both the process of the game and the final result must show sufficient reliability. As long as we can continue to do this, the team's confidence will gradually increase, and at the same time, it will lay a solid foundation for striving for better results in the future."

Speaking about their upcoming match against Espanyol, Inigo Pérez believes Villarreal will face a tough test. He points out that their opponents are eager to shake off their recent slump and are therefore expected to show a strong determination to win.

Iñigo Perez added : " If there is a lot of attention on our opponents and a lot of different discussions surrounding them, then we should be more cautious and pay close attention to all possible situations that may arise during the match. At the same time, we must focus on our own performance and complete our pre-match preparations according to the established plan."

"I believe that tomorrow's match will be a very intense contest. The opponent is eager to get out of their current slump and also wants to use this match to prove their strength again and reverse their recent trend."
