After breaking the deadlock of two consecutive seasons with a 1-0 away victory over Nottingham Forest, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta analyzed the key to winning the tough match in a post-match interview, stating that it was an extremely difficult but well-deserved victory.
Arteta first affirmed the importance of the result, pointing out that Nottingham Forest has always been difficult to break down: "We know that the margin for error in this game is extremely low. Facing an extremely tenacious defensive team, after failing to capitalize on scoring opportunities amidst the chaos in the first half, we decisively adjusted our tactics in the second half. We completely abandoned our frustration and, while taking on more attacking risks, maintained a high degree of discipline to prevent our formation from becoming disjointed."
According to Arteta, patience is the core logic for securing all three points. He firmly believes that the opponent's stamina cannot sustain a high-intensity defense throughout the game, and he particularly praised the strategic value of the substitute players.
Arteta couldn't hide his joy at Noni Madoueke's winning goal: "After returning from the international break, we saw a completely different Noni. He played with great conviction and decisiveness, which is exactly the quality we desperately need in the penalty area."
Speaking about the terrifying comeback they faced in stoppage time, Arteta particularly praised the defense's composure under chaotic pressure: "There were two or three extremely dangerous moments in stoppage time, but Konsa and others withstood the pressure and made crucial blocks. This calmness under high pressure and danger is enough to demonstrate the players' excellent qualities."
