On October 28 local time, Strasbourg announced the renewal of Samir Murabe's contract. The new contract extends the original expiration date of 2030 by one year, remaining valid until June 30, 2031.
Murabe was born in Strasbourg in October 2005 to parents from Morocco and France. He officially joined Strasbourg's youth academy at the age of 10 and made his first-team debut in the French Cup on January 6, 2024.
To date, Murabe has made 56 appearances for Strasbourg, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists. He primarily plays as a central midfielder for Strasbourg, but has also filled in as a defensive midfielder, right midfielder, attacking midfielder, and left winger.
At the national team level, Murabe chose to represent his father's homeland, Morocco. He has made nine appearances for Morocco to date, including a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
After completing the contract extension, Murabe released a brief statement through official channels: "I am very happy and proud to continue playing for Strasbourg. I am also delighted to have the club's trust."
Despite reaching a contract extension agreement with Strasbourg, Murabe still faces many challenges. Given that he has only started twice in the first eight league matches this season, securing a starting position will be his primary goal going forward.
Murabe's other main task is to fight for survival under coach Hugo Oliveira. Strasbourg has had a poor start to the season and currently sits third from bottom in Ligue 1 with 7 points from 2 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses.
