With Aston Villa set to host Viking in the third round of the Champions League, Boubacar Kamara shared his enjoyment of his time at the club. The midfielder's form has clearly improved this season, starting 10 of the team's first 11 matches, including the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg.
Boubacar Kamara, who had been sidelined since mid-January due to a recurrence of a knee ligament injury, has finally returned to the first team during the preseason after a long rehabilitation process. Speaking about his current physical condition, Boubacar Kamara said , " After such a long period of injury, I feel great now."
"This period has allowed me to gradually recover my physical fitness and regain my feel for training and competition. Now, my physical condition has improved significantly, and my post-match recovery is much smoother than before, which makes me very happy."
"The team underwent many adjustments this summer, and some important players left one after another. However, we are very satisfied with the new teammates. They not only have excellent abilities, but also maintain a positive attitude and strive to understand the head coach's tactical philosophy and game requirements. We are very pleased to see this."
Boubacar Kamara made the remarks at a pre-match press conference, as Aston Villa were actively preparing for their Champions League third-round home game against Viking. Facing the Norwegian league champions, Aston Villa hoped to continue their recent excellent form. The team had defeated Club Brugge and Fenerbahce in their first two Champions League matches, currently holding a perfect record of 6 points.
Before the match, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery praised Boubacar Kamara in a media interview. He said , " It's truly regrettable that he suffered two serious injuries, each requiring a long recovery period. However, after the first injury, he successfully overcame the difficulties and made a strong comeback. Now, with his return, he is gradually regaining his physical condition."
"He has made significant progress in many areas. During our first two years working together, he was constantly learning, and that growth was very satisfying. However, I hope he can rediscover his peak form and fully utilize his abilities and experience. He is quick-witted, has an excellent work ethic, and possesses many commendable qualities. He still has room for improvement in the coming weeks, months, and even years, and is expected to reach his best level again. I hope he can stay with the team long-term, which will not only benefit us but also have a positive impact on his career."
