Olympiacos announced on Thursday that they have officially signed free agent John Conchar. Multiple sources have confirmed that the two sides have reached a two-year, $3 million contract.
Since being waived by the New York Knicks in September, Conchard's name has been linked with strong overseas teams such as Real Madrid. His move to Olympiacos marks the temporary end of his seven-year NBA career.
After joining Olympiacos, Conchar will play for the team in the Greek Basketball League (GBL). In addition to him, Olympiacos' roster also includes several NBA-trained stars such as Sasha Vezienkov, Kostas Papanikolaou, and Donta Hall.
The 30-year-old Conchar is a 6'6" (1.96m) and 95kg (4.5kg) swingman who entered the NBA in 2019 as an undrafted free agent. He spent the first six and a half years of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, playing a total of 337 regular season games, averaging 4.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.9 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 47.2% and a three-point percentage of 35.9%.
In February of this year, Conchar was traded to the Utah Jazz in a deal involving Jaren Jackson Jr. He subsequently played 26 regular-season games for the Jazz, averaging 5.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals in 26.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 44.5% and a three-point percentage of 25.0%.
