Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois recently confirmed that his contract renewal negotiations with Real Madrid have entered the final stage.
Thibaut Courtois's current contract with AC Milan expires next summer, and the two sides have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to extend it until 2028. In an interview, Courtois clarified, "We are discussing a contract extension. It's no secret, and no one is in a rush. I'll handle the extension matters shortly; only a few final details need to be finalized. I'm not sure if the official announcement will be made in a week, two weeks, three weeks, or a month or two, but I'm happy to stay with the team for another year."
He later added: "My goal is to finish my career at Real Madrid. To achieve that, I must maintain the form I showed against RB Leipzig and continue to contribute to the team. That's the only way."
The 34-year-old Courtois came through the Genk youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Belgian First Division on April 17, 2009. He subsequently played for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, winning one Europa League title, two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and one League Cup.
In August 2018, Courtois transferred to Real Madrid for €35 million. To date, he has made 345 appearances for Real Madrid, keeping 131 clean sheets, and has won two Champions League titles, one Club World Cup title, one Intercontinental Cup title, four La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cup titles, two Copa del Rey titles, and three Spanish Super Cup titles with the team.
