Cesar Pescotto has unwavering confidence in Wolves' ability to regain their winning form and expects the team to get back on track this weekend at home against Watford. Wolves have struggled in their last two home games, losing to Bolton Wanderers and drawing with Portsmouth. Regarding the less-than-enthusiastic atmosphere at Molineux Stadium, Cesar Pescotto said he understands the fans' reaction.
Nevertheless, Wolves still have 35 games to play this season, and the team has not given up on its goal of qualifying for the promotion play-offs. Cesar Pescotto believes that if the players, coaching staff, and fans can work together on Saturday afternoon, Wolves can gradually turn the tide and steer the game in a more favorable direction.
César Pesciotto stated, "I will try my best to examine each game objectively and honestly. Of course, as the head coach, my understanding and judgment of the game will inevitably differ from that of the fans, which is also my responsibility. However, regarding that particular game, I don't think the final result truly reflected what happened on the field."
"In the first 45 minutes, the team failed to show the level of competition we should have. We didn't have the courage to go forward as usual, nor did we actively look for and attack gaps as we usually do. In the second half, we managed to score and created two or three more scoring opportunities. Portsmouth only had one shot on target in the entire 90 minutes, but they still managed to score. That's the frustrating thing about football sometimes."
"However, we have conducted a full review of that game, and I have also had in-depth discussions with the players. Although we were able to dominate the game through possession, we failed to effectively control the space on the field, which is the biggest difference between the two. The team did not attack the gaps at the right time, nor did it make timely use of the depth of the field to launch attacks, and it also did not do enough in terms of running and off-the-ball movement."
“We had the advantage in possession, created more chances than our opponents, and performed better overall, but there is still room for improvement. The problem is that we failed to launch attacks at the best moments, otherwise we could have created more scoring opportunities. This is also a key issue we have been focusing on in recent training, and we hope to show a better performance in the next game through continuous adjustments and improvements.”
“Every game has its own circumstances, and every opponent has different characteristics. But one thing is certain: when we can’t win at home, the atmosphere around us naturally changes. But at the beginning of the season, we faced a similar situation. After failing to win our first game, we then beat Stoke City 4-1 and successfully defeated West Bromwich Albion. Therefore, I firmly believe that the team can win again, and that has never left my doubt.”
"Of course, there will inevitably be setbacks during the game, and sometimes the team will not be able to perform at its best. But in the long season, what truly reflects the strength of a team is not just its performance when it is in good form, but more importantly, whether it can still find a way to win even when it is not playing ideally."
“I have always had full confidence in the players and in every member of the team. In the past four games, almost all the players have had the opportunity to play, which is because I believe they have the ability to contribute to the team. In addition, considering the recent busy schedule, we must also adjust the lineup in a timely manner to allow players to take turns playing. Injury problems do pose a considerable challenge to the team at present, but we will not lose confidence in individual players or the team as a whole because of a draw.”
"The Championship is a long test, and there will inevitably be ups and downs and difficulties throughout the season, but we must always stay united. I am very clear about what adjustments the team needs to make next, and the players also understand what efforts they should make to perform better in the next game."
