Golden State Warriors are considering making center Kristaps Porziņģis, who is currently sidelined indefinitely due to an uncertain health situation, available for trade..

ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania reported exclusively on Friday that the Golden State Warriors are considering making center Kristaps Porziņģis, who is currently sidelined indefinitely due to an uncertain health situation, available for trade.

According to Charania, the uncertainty surrounding Porziņģis’s health and his future in the sport has prompted the Warriors to look into adjusting his roster spot to ensure the team’s long-term plans remain on track.

However, this presents the most significant, and currently most difficult hurdle for the Warriors. First, the team is subject to the "second apron" hard cap, which prohibits them from taking back more salary in a trade than they send out. If the Warriors were to take back less salary, they would be permitted to aggregate multiple contracts to make the math work.

Furthermore, player trades are rare early in the season, as teams are still in the process of evaluating their own rosters. Moreover, given his current health status, it is highly unlikely that any team would be willing to take the risk of acquiring Porziņģis.

Under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), only two trades have taken place during the months of October and November.

Notably, this marks the second time in six months that the team employing Porziņģis has made him available for trade for the same reason.

In late 2025, the Hawks also made Porziņģis available for trade due to concerns regarding his health.

Subsequently, in February 2026, the Hawks traded Porziņģis to the Warriors in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield.

Now 31 years old, the Latvian-born Kristaps Porziņģis was the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Over the course of his career, he has played for several teams, including the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and the Atlanta Hawks.

To date, he has made 533 regular-season appearances, averaging 19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 30.3 minutes per game, and won the 2024 NBA championship with the Celtics.

However, the Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) that affects him remains an underlying concern, impacting both his availability and his performance on the court.

Due to recurring episodes, he appeared in a combined total of just 33 games following trades to the Atlanta Hawks and the Golden State Warriors, averaging 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks over 24 minutes per game.
