Premier League – Maduk scores as Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 1-0

The 7th round of the 2026/27 Premier League season continued, with Arsenal defeating Nottingham Forest 1-0 away from home thanks to a second-half goal from Maduk.

Eight minutes into the match, Arsenal launched an attack. Saka's pass was cleared, but he lobbed it into the penalty area again, only to have his shot saved by Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Mats Sels. In the 17th minute, Saka was brought down by Neco Williams while attempting a breakthrough, and the referee showed Williams a yellow card.

In the 19th minute, Nottingham Forest attempted a counter-attack. Liam Delap crossed the ball, and Ndoye's shot in the penalty area went wide. In the 26th minute, Arsenal took a corner kick, and Gabriel's shot in the ensuing scramble was blocked by an opposing player.

In the 35th minute, Daniel Muñoz passed the ball diagonally, and Liam Delap received it before firing a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went wide. In the 37th minute, Rice took a free kick, and Havertz's header went wide. In the 41st minute, Ødegaard played a through ball, and Havertz's shot hit the side netting.

In the 44th minute, James McCarty took a free kick, and Neco Williams took a long-range shot, but the ball hit the wall. In first-half stoppage time, Nottingham Forest attacked from a corner, and Schlager received the ball outside the penalty area and took a long-range shot, but it went wide.

At the start of the second half, Arsenal substituted Maduk for Eze. In the 49th minute, James McCarty took a free kick, but his shot went over the goal. In the 53rd minute, Maduk fouled Dominguez while contesting for possession and was shown a yellow card by the referee.

In the 54th minute, James McCarty delivered a cross, and Murillo's shot was cleared by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. In the 67th minute, Rice took a corner kick, and Gabriel headed the ball, but it went over the post.

In the 69th minute, Schlager played a long pass, and Liam Delap received it before firing a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball was caught by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. In the 72nd minute, Timber passed the ball back from the penalty area, and Rice took a direct shot but kicked the ball high.

In the 79th minute, Saka chipped a pass into the penalty area, and Dzekeresh headed the ball, but it went wide. In the 80th minute, Rice dealt with the defense and passed the ball to Maduk, who then entered the penalty area and fired a shot into the net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the 82nd minute, Merino received a pass from Dzekeresh near the penalty area and took a long-range shot, but it was blocked by an opposing player.

In the second half stoppage time, Murillo passed the ball to Liam Delap, who followed up with a shot, but it was cleared by the opposing player.

Arsenal ultimately defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 away from home.
