The 2026 League of Legends World Championship Swiss Round is about to begin.

The main stage of the 2026 League of Legends World Championship will officially kick off from October 23 to 31.

Sixteen top teams from six major regions around the world have gathered to compete fiercely in a Swiss-system tournament, where the competition is both brutal and full of opportunities, vying for eight knockout stage spots.

This year's main tournament uses the Swiss-system knockout format: each team needs to accumulate three wins to advance to the quarterfinals; if they suffer three losses, they will be eliminated. The initial stage of the tournament uses a best-of-one (BO1) format, providing teams with two buffer periods to allow for mistakes.

Once a team's record reaches the brink of elimination or elimination (such as 2-0, 0-2, 2-1, 1-2, and 2-2), the match will switch to a best-of-three (BO3) format. This high-density competition not only tests the team's immediate tactical adaptability but also eliminates any possibility of luck.

The top seeds from the six major regions—Gen.G, AL, Team Liquid, G2, Secret Whales, and LOS—will face off against iG, KC, CFO, DK, LYON, and defending champions T1, respectively. Furthermore, the clash between Chinese and Korean powerhouses HLE and TES, and the head-to-head battle between BLG and MKOI, will add even more drama to the first day of competition.

After the Swiss-system stage, half of the teams will be eliminated. The sixteen participating teams must win three matches in the series to qualify for the quarterfinals and continue competing for the World Championship title.
