Glasner urged Nottingham Forest to be more decisive in seizing scoring opportunities.

The 2026/27 Premier League season will kick off its eighth round of matches tomorrow, with Nottingham Forest traveling to Portman Road to face newly promoted Ipswich Town. Manager Glasner stated in a press conference that he believes his team will put on a scoring display, but needs to be more decisive in seizing their opportunities.

In their last league match, Nottingham Forest lost 0-1 to defending champions Arsenal after Marduk scored in the final stages of the second half.

Nottingham Forest manager Glasner said, "I don't think it's a particularly serious problem because we've created enough situations. Igor Thiago is the team's second-highest scorer, and the other players have probably scored two or three goals each. That's why we brought in Liam Delap to strengthen our attack, but we also have to consider that he hasn't had consistent playing time throughout the season."

“I’ve said before that against Arsenal we created three chances in the last 10 minutes, from three different players, which is a positive. But on the other hand, we really need to be more decisive in taking those chances. We also saw that sometimes we were just a hair’s breadth away from scoring.”

Glasner pointed out, "Liam Delap scored against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace at Villa Park, and his shots were very well executed, but both were saved by the goalkeeper. In those situations, perhaps it's not necessary to aim for spectacular shots. We still have some areas to improve, and the players are working on it. But I have no doubt that the team has the ability to convert the chances we create into goals."

“We need to get Liam Delap and Gibbs White in more threatening attacking positions, and we also have Ndoye, who is equally dangerous, while midfielders James McCarty and Chris Wood can also provide support. For attacking players, once they score, many things seem to become easier.”

Furthermore, Ipswich Town currently sits in 10th place with 9 points in the standings, and their strength after being promoted to the Premier League should not be underestimated.

Glasner said, "Nowadays, clubs that are promoted to the Premier League invest money in signings because it seems like they have to do so to remain competitive in the Premier League. Sunderland made such an investment last season and successfully qualified for Europe, but they have also encountered difficulties at the start of this season."

“Ipswich is a strong team. They were relegated but quickly returned to the Premier League. They have some players with Premier League experience, and they have also brought in several excellent new signings.”

Glasner added, "They play with intensity and run a lot, and their attacking style is very distinctive. Like every team in the Premier League, they are a strong team with an excellent manager."
