Defending champions Arsenal will host Everton at the Emirates Stadium in a key match of the 8th round of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Mikel Arteta has stated that Saka, who was previously injured, is now confirmed to be unavailable for the game, adding that the winger's injury still requires further evaluation.
In Arsenal's previous Champions League match against Bayern Munich, England winger Saka suffered a left quadriceps injury and was substituted off in the 10th minute.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, "Saka will need to undergo another MRI scan because there is a lot of fluid in his injury. We need to do several more tests and consult with specialists. We need to be patient and wait for the results before making any announcements."
"If a player has to leave the field early, or even suffers severe pain while walking and has limited mobility, these are not good signs. Therefore, we need to be patient and wait until we can make a clear assessment before informing everyone of the results."
Arteta pointed out, "I don't know what will happen in the future. He has had muscle problems and tendon injuries before, but that's a different story. It's not just Saka's problem; many other players have encountered similar situations. We discussed this issue last season, so we must continue to monitor his condition."
In addition, Arteta said that even during his recovery period, he hopes that Saka can continue to influence his teammates with a positive attitude.
Arteta stated, "I've told him to come to training with a good mental state and positive energy, because that's what the team needs. If everyone just surrounds him asking if he's feeling unwell or how he's feeling physically, that's exactly what we don't want to see."
"If that's how things turn out, then it's part of our job. We'll experience good results and bad results, and we'll encounter all sorts of problems, so we have to learn to deal with them. We can't change what has already happened, but what we can do is, from now until the game against Everton, we need to stick together and try to win with the most positive attitude."
It's worth mentioning that Arsenal won 2-0 against Everton at home in the Premier League last season thanks to crucial goals from Dzekeresh and Max Doman. This was also the first goal for Arsenal by the 16-year-old Max Doman.
Arteta said, "When we talk about Max Dawman, we inevitably think of that goal and how we felt at that moment. That memory is deeply etched in our hearts, and I think everyone in the stadium will remember that moment for a long time."
“He has been training hard, and every time he gets a chance to play, he proves himself to be a player who can change the course of a game. Therefore, he will definitely get playing time.”
