Maresca confirms Haaland is ready to face Aston Villa.

The 8th round of the 2026/27 Premier League season will feature a key match as Manchester City travels to face Aston Villa. Maresca stated that Haaland, who hasn't played in previous matches, is ready to participate in this game.

Manchester City defeated Ipswich Town 3-2 in the last round of the Premier League, thanks to a goal from Foden and a brace from Haaland, and topped the standings with a seven-game winning streak.

In addition, Norwegian star Erling Haaland, who was on the bench, was not given a chance to play in the earlier Champions League match where the team defeated AEK Athens 5-1.

Manchester City manager Maresca said, "We will continue training. Nico Aurelli, Kovacic, and Nunes are all possible players, and they may or may not be able to play. As for the players whose situations are still uncertain, their situations have improved, but we will continue to monitor them."

"Haaland is the only player who is 100% confirmed to be available. As for the other three players, we need to wait until training is over before making a decision."

Maresca shared, "The team atmosphere is excellent right now, as I've said many times before. We're happy with our start, but we're eager to win more games. We're happy now, but we want to achieve even more victories."

"It's really too early to talk about which teams have dropped out of the title race. The league has only played seven rounds, and there are still many games to play. It's too early to draw conclusions now."

In head-to-head records, Manchester City have won two and lost three of their last five matches against Aston Villa. Although Aston Villa have only managed two wins in the Premier League so far, Emery's team have won three consecutive Champions League matches, giving them a strong boost for the game against Manchester City.

Maresca said, "I have great respect for Emery. He has achieved great results in every club he has managed. Aston Villa is a very strong team. We can clearly see the characteristics of this team and understand what they want to do."

“They play very aggressively off the ball, pressing with great intensity. The team is currently in high spirits and has been winning consistently. I can say with 100% certainty that this will be a tough match.”
