In the 8th round of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Lyon at home. They ultimately defeated their opponents 2-0, and topped the table with a record of 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss, accumulating 16 points.

After the match began, Paris Saint-Germain quickly took control of the game. In the 4th minute, Valen Zaire-Emerick delivered a diagonal pass from midfield, and Desiree Duet forced his way into the penalty area despite being surrounded by multiple defenders, but his shot was unsuccessful. In the 9th minute, Achraf Hakimi cut the ball back from the right side of the penalty area, and Fabian Ruiz's follow-up shot went wide. In the 22nd minute, Tanna Tesmann's clearance error in his own half inadvertently created an assist, and Ferran Torres' long-range shot failed to hit the target.

In the latter part of the first half, Lyon began to engage in an attacking battle with Paris Saint-Germain. In the 31st minute, Ernest Noivamo cut inside from the right and delivered a diagonal pass, but Julian Durandell's shot inside the penalty area was saved by Matvey Safonov. After the break, Paris Saint-Germain regained control of the game. In the 53rd minute, Neves received a pass from Hakimi and attempted a bicycle kick, but missed the target. In the 56th minute, Dué delivered a precise through ball, and Torres' follow-up shot was saved by Greif. In the 61st minute, Ruiz crossed from the left into the penalty area, and Dué's shot after a slight adjustment went wide of the right side. In the 64th minute, Hakimi's shot from a tight angle on the right side of the penalty area was brilliantly saved by Greif, and Torres' follow-up shot was also blocked by Tesmann.

In the 72nd minute, Paris Saint-Germain finally broke the deadlock: Mika Hotz delivered a back pass from the left wing, and Seni Maylou unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, beating Graeve's outstretched arms. In the 84th minute, Quentin N'Gantou's long pass from midfield linked up with Hotz on the left wing, and Hotz responded with a long-range shot that again breached Lyon's goal.
