Bayern Munich chairman Herbert Hainer made it clear on Friday that the club is not currently considering pursuing Liverpool attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
The 23-year-old Wirtz, who won a Bundesliga title, a German Cup, and a German Super Cup with Bayer Leverkusen, is considered one of the best young German attackers. In June 2025, he joined Liverpool from Leverkusen for £100 million.
However, Wirtz's development at Liverpool has fallen far short of expectations. To date, he has made 57 appearances for Liverpool, scoring only 7 goals and providing 12 assists.
Given Bayern Munich's strong interest in Florian Wirtz before his move to England, rumors of a potential partnership between the two clubs have recently resurfaced. In response, Bayern president Herbert Hainer stated at a commemorative event: "First of all, I think Florian Wirtz is an outstanding player, without a doubt. Seeing that he hasn't yet regained the form he had while playing for Bayer Leverkusen in England, I even feel a little regretful, since the German national team also needs him to be at his best."
"Our current squad is very strong, and we are very satisfied with the current situation. For this reason, signing Wirtz is not currently on our agenda."
