ESL One Munich is scheduled to start in April 2027.

ESL, the esports tournament organizer, has officially announced its new plans for the Dota 2 series: ESL One Munich 2027 will be held from April 4th to 11th next year at the BMW Park Arena in Munich, Germany.

As a top-tier offline tournament, this year's competition boasts a total prize pool of $1 million and will bring together 16 of the world's top professional esports teams to compete.

The tournament offers a total of 16 slots. Eight of these are direct invites, awarded to the top eight teams in the 2026-2027 ESL Pro Circuit standings; the other eight slots will be determined through regional qualifiers.

It has been confirmed that the champions of the qualifying rounds from Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and South America will each receive one spot. The specific allocation of the remaining three spots will be announced later.

The tournament consists of two stages: a group stage and a knockout stage. The 16 teams are divided into two groups for a best-of-two round-robin group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the winners' bracket, the third and fourth place teams advance to the losers' bracket, and the bottom-ranked team is eliminated. The knockout stage uses a double-elimination format, with all matches except the grand final being best-of-five (BO5).

The million-dollar prize pool covers all participating teams. The champion will receive $290,000, the runner-up $130,000, and the third-place winner $105,000. Each participating team is guaranteed a minimum prize of $20,000, which will be shared between the players and their respective clubs.

The final three days of the tournament (April 9-11) are open to live audiences. First-round tickets will officially go on sale on November 5, starting at €129. Second-round ticket sales and more tournament details can be found on the ESL official website.
